Past, Future, and Personality
By: Miguel Saavedra
A fact that many people are unaware of is that the most detailed part of the human body is not the face, it is the hands. It is because of this intricacy that we are able to derive insights about a person’s past, future and personality simply from looking at the size, shape, texture and lines on the human hand.
Anyone can become a good palmist, but what sparked my interest in the topic was actually a stereotype. I always pictured palm-readers as aging gypsies with an aura of mystery and too much jewelry. Gypsies have interested me since I took a trip to Spain before my first year of High School and saw many of them first hand. It was my fascination with this sub-culture that drew me to palm reading, but the accuracy of the practice that brought me to try to share it with others, especially in the Northwest.
As a youngster, I dreamt of being a scientist and inventor. Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately) , I was never mechanically minded. My study of palmistry revealed this desire in my own hands. According to Richard Webster, people with my type of finger tips are, “practical, intelligent, unconventional, inventive people who love new concepts and ideas.” This seemed to fit me to a T, but I remained unconvinced. I believe firmly in the idea that meaning, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder.
The more palms I read, however, the more I saw the truth in people’s hands, just waiting for someone who knew where to look. This is not to say that I am always right, or that we are powerless to change the fate outlined in our palms. However, most people, even if hesitant at first, come to appreciate confirmation of the path they are on.
