| What’s New at Tea Party Bookshop
I’ve been getting in some lovely kids books. One series is different ecosystems and the animals that live in them, and they are just the type of book I would have spent hours with as a kid. I’ve also been keeping an eye out for books on food and the food chain, and have been really pleased to find some fun titles that get the point across without being at all boring.
We’ve also gotten some more great gardening and sustainability titles, including a revised edition of Gaia’s Garden, which outlines a holistic approach to gardening in your backyard. It’s gorgeous!
Just in time for spring, we’ve gotten in some fun scarves, lightweight and perfect for the warmer weather (hurray for that!). We’ll also be carrying maps soon, and expanding the travel section, and I’ve picked up some cool booklights that should be here shortly. Stop by soon! |
Satsang is Postponed!
I’m sad to report that Timothy Conway, who was to lead the satsang, was one of the families evacuated away from the fires in Santa Barbara. As far as I know, his house is safe, and continued good thoughts are welcomed. We’ll reschedule this for later on – I was really looking forward to this! His book, WOMEN OF POWER AND GRACE is available here at the store. |

May 21st: the return of Third Thursday Poets! Wah-hoo! We’re back, and ready to rock the mic! We’ll be hearing from poets Michael Daley, Donna Henderson and Jessica Lamb. 5:30 pm, free!
May 22nd: Come enjoy good food and good art at AvatarLive! from 6-9pm. This will be a vibrant arts night showcasing the artistic talents of South Salem High School students, including poetry, drama, culinary art, performances by student bands Absence of Mustache and SuperGrain, and a display of visual art. We will also be unveiling the 2009 edition of the SSHS Literary and Arts Magazine, the Avatar.
May 23rd: Soul Collage and Archetypes of the Council, workshop with Suzie Wolfer. Find out which archetypes are active in your life, by making card-sized collages. Class is filling, so please call to pre-register! 1- 5 pm, $79 includes all materials
May 23rd: Devon Monk launches Magic in the Blood, the 2nd book in the Allie Beckstrom series. These are sassy urban fantasy novels, set in an alternative Portland, where magic is part of the everyday fabric. 7 pm, free talk, books available for signing.

June 5th: Heather Rocklin with the Mahasiddha Kadampa Buddhist Center will be back for another inspiring talk on the principles of Buddhism. This session will focus on The Four Noble Truths. 7 pm
